is a full range design firm founded in 2015 as the next evolutionary step of the collaborative partnership forged in 2010 between Scott H. In addition to custom homes, Allen & DeLalio Architects also designs for multifamily, townhouse, commercial and mixed use construction, additions and renovations. Our design philosophy is that a building should blend both style and functionality in order to meet lifestyle needs while reflecting the personality of the homeowner(s) or business. As a result of this approach, clients find they receive personal solutions to their design needs. Our design repertoire is diverse in nature, so you'll find that you're not limited to any particular style. Whether you already have your own design ideas or don't know where to begin, Allen & DeLalio Architects will work with you to create a design that works for you, your budget, and your builder. When it comes to construction documents, builders find our plans to be comprehensive and easy to work from. We are taking an existing house and will gut it inside and out to replace all the siding, roofing, windows, and interior finishes. Our client will be confined to a wheelchair and we are converting the entire house for complete accessibility on all floors. To the right of the existing house, we are raising the roof to add a new elevator that will also have an exterior door to the new extended front covered portico so she can pull her car underneath and enter the house at grade and get to each level. The house is in a flood plain and we did not have the ability to lower the house and a 48-foot ramp seemed like it would take away from the home. Other lot setbacks would prohibit and attached garage.

Starting with an unfinished basement, we were tasked with creating a "speakeasy vibe" for a gun enthusiast and Warhammer hobbyist. Providing a safe, secure storage and display space was a top priority. Warm wood tones, leather and velvet contrast the metal slat and glass display walls to create an inviting conversational den and lounge space. We layered lighting for precise fabrication work, conversation, and detailed painting. We utilized dimmers to flex the space for muliple moods.

1st time "raising" a house as part of the renovation process. This year we'll have 2! We are moving this house up 4 feet to get it out of the flood plain as it overlooks the Chesapeake Bay and has flooding in the past. We will be updating the crawl space, adding a new 2nd floor covered roof over the existing deck, and will upgrade all the siding and features. The rear 1 story addition was already 2 feet higher than the existing 1st floor, so we are detaching it from the main house will lower that section to be all on the same level. New stairs and an outdoor lift will allow for aging in place.

Just starting work on this 1928 home in historic Highland Beach MD. We were amazed by the interiors that have remained virtually untouched over the years and has many of the original materials, colors, and features still intact. The house is up the street from the Frederick Douglas house, and this was designed by a widow who was apparently a graduate from the Parsons School of Design.

We love this transformation. Not every project is large, but this little addition certainly makes an impression from the street and also gives some much-needed cover over the main entry to the home. By simply following the existing roof lines and providing some brackets, a little paint on the existing brick, and some stone cladding round the entrance, this addition makes a statement.

From creation to reality, we spend the time to meet both with our clients and builders to make sure every detail is done correctly. Today I was asked out to work on the roof transition and low parapet wall to avoid potential leaks and make sure the final details match the vision. Our Heavy Timber Workshop addition. Window and doors still need to be cut in, but we are please to see this project underway. The architecture was easy for this project, but getting the zoning approved for this addition took some time. Creative attachments to the existing house and careful site placement to work around the existing well and septic system allowed this project to proceed forward. Sliding the house to the left and behind existing landscaping helps to lower the scale and will keep the rear yard open to the rest of the house.
