Most of our logs come from local sources within a 500 mile radius of our location. Most of the lumber that we sell comes from Urban, or Salvaged logs. We provide custom cutting services on our thin kerf Wood-Mizer band saw with a throat capacity of 67”. California Claro Walnut, Paradox, English Walnut, Walnut Burl, Cottonwood, Cottonwood Burl Cluster, Madrone Burl, Old Growth Sequoia Redwood, Old Growth Coastal Redwood, California Black Oak, Blue Oak, California White Oak, Black Locust, Cedar, and more. Lumber, Beams, Timbers, Mantels, Siding, Flooring material, dunnage, cribbage, pallet stock, woodworking, wood turning, live edge lumber, bookmatched, wide slabs, and more; We can custom cut to most specs. We may be known for slabs, and weird one-offs, but local wood can do a whole lot more.

This run of 16' redwood 2x8s salvaged milled and planed at Far West Forest Products for a customer who will turn them into a series of redwood tables.

And this is where we see tremendous opportunity for locally recovered wood: moving beyond one-of-a-kind pieces and into dimensional material that designers, builders and manufacturers can actually specify and use at scale.

At Far West, we’re already seeing that demand firsthand. And through the California Wood Supply Group, we’re working to connect the capacity of local mills across California with larger projects and buyers looking for local wood.

The wood is here. The demand is growing. Now with the Watershed Research and Training Center, we’re building the supply chain to connect the two. 🌳
