Monday night, we received the call no one ever wants to receive. One of our own was killed in a motorcycle accident. Just hours earlier, we were doing what we do every day. None of us could have imagined it would be the last time. John, it’s still hard to believe you’re not coming back.
John joined our team earlier this year, but it didn’t take long before he felt like family. He had the kind of personality that could brighten even the hardest day. He was always smiling, always joking, always finding a way to make everyone laugh. No matter how tough the job or how long the day, John reminded us not to take life too seriously, and because of him, the work was a little lighter and the days were a little better.
In our industry, we put our lives in the hands of our coworkers every single day. That kind of trust isn’t given lightly—it’s earned. John’s hands were steady, his work was dependable, and you always knew he was looking out for the people around him.
Our hearts are broken for his family, especially his two beautiful children, who have lost an incredible father far too soon. We can’t begin to imagine the pain they’re carrying, but we hope they always know how deeply he was respected, how genuinely he was loved, and how much of an impact he made in the short time he was with us.
John, thank you for every laugh, every joke, every helping hand, and every memory. We were better because you were part of our crew.
We’ll miss hearing your laugh and other wonderfully inappropriate jokes that somehow brought a smile to our faces.
Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.
