Another one across the finish line. 🌳

The improvements at Wiley Post Park are complete, and the finished product is looking great. What started as plans, dirt, and a lot of moving pieces has come together into an improved public space built for the people who use it every day.

Park projects give us a chance to see the impact of our work firsthand. Long after the equipment leaves and construction wraps up, these spaces remain—giving families a place to gather, play, and enjoy their community.

Construction Update | Tishomingo Wastewater Treatment Plant

Out with the old. Building for what’s next.

Downey Contracting is proud to be part of the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Tishomingo, Oklahoma—a major investment in the community’s infrastructure and future.

After decades of service from the existing facility, Tishomingo is investing in a new treatment system designed to provide modern, reliable wastewater service and support the community’s continued growth. The new facility incorporates advanced treatment processes, UV disinfection, sludge handling, new process equipment, and updated electrical and control systems.

Projects like this aren’t always the most visible, but they’re some of the most important work we do. We’re proud to help build the infrastructure that will serve Tishomingo for decades to come.

A new plant. A stronger foundation for the future.

There’s a lot happening below the surface as work progresses on the Kickapoo Avenue widening in Shawnee OK.

A major part of the work right now is the relocation of existing utilities to clear the way for the roadway improvements. Moving these systems takes careful planning and coordination to keep critical services in place while making room for the new infrastructure.

Once complete, the project will reconstruct and widen Kickapoo Avenue between the Kickapoo Spur and Farrall Street, improving an important corridor for Shawnee.

For the crews in the field, it’s another day of digging, setting, connecting, and getting the groundwork right before the finished roadway takes shape. The road is what you’ll see. The infrastructure underneath is what makes it work.

From an empty school site to a place built for the neighborhood.
Downey Contracting is proud to have helped transform the former Dewey Elementary School site into the new Dewey Park in Oklahoma City’s Capitol View neighborhood.

For years, residents envisioned something new for this property. Today, that vision is a 4-acre community park featuring flower-themed play structures, walking paths, sports courts, exercise areas, shade structures, native planting areas, public art, and a memorial wall honoring community leaders.

What makes this project especially meaningful is that it wasn’t simply a new park—it was part of a larger effort to reinvest in and strengthen the Capitol View neighborhood. We’re proud to have helped turn a long-vacant property into a place where kids can play, families can gather, and neighbors can connect.
That’s the kind of project that makes construction rewarding.
