Sometimes a room starts with one material you can’t stop coming back to.
A tile. A stone. A wood tone.
From there, the question becomes: what belongs beside it?
This is where designing becomes editing.
Comparing undertones. Removing what competes. Bringing in texture where the palette needs depth. Seeing how materials react to each other instead of judging them individually.
Because something can be beautiful and still not belong in the room.
The goal isn’t for every material to be your favorite on its own.
It’s for the combination to feel right.
Some selections lead. Some add warmth or contrast. Others quietly connect everything around them.
That balance is what turns a collection of samples into a design.
