As part of OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week, our team held a safety stand-down focused on staying proactive and looking out for one another. We discussed key safety practices and conducted chain inspections to help ensure our equipment is safe and ready for the job.

As National Safety Month comes to an end, one thing remains unchanged: our commitment to safety.

Safety isn’t a campaign or a seasonal focus. It’s built into every pre-job discussion, every toolbox talk, every equipment inspection, and every decision made in the field and in the office.

While June shines a spotlight on workplace safety, we know that creating a strong safety culture takes commitment every minute of every day. That’s a responsibility we proudly carry all year long.

As part of National Trench Safety Stand Down Week (June 15-19), our crews paused to focus on the fundamentals of trench and excavation safety through hands-on, interactive activities led by our safety team.

Divisions worked through three trench box build scenarios, discussing protective systems, identifying potential hazards, and reinforcing safe decision-making before entering an excavation. We also reviewed of soil classifications and field-testing methods to help crews recognize changing ground conditions and select the appropriate protective measures.

The safety team also included a reminder about the “100 Deadly Days of Summer”, the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when traffic fatalities historically increase. We discussed defensive driving, staying alert behind the wheel, and making safe choices both on and off the job.

Activities and demonstrations like these strengthens our team and reinforces the importance of recognizing hazards, making informed decisions, and looking out for one another.
