Got a call from a homeowner. There roof was leaking and fixed but still leaking. I posted some photos and will try to explain what happened to educate homeowners. Cheaper is not better. In photo 1-2 when taking the lower shingle out to replace you must take the nails out of the shingle you want to remove and the one above so you can get it out correctly. Second photo shows when you separate the shingle what it looks like. Photos 3-4 shows when a guy does it incorrectly and cuts the top of a shingle off to slid in so they don’t have to remove the nails from the shingle above. Photo 4 shows when upper shingle is pulled a part you can see there is no shingle to cover where shingles buts together and water can make its way to paper and plywood. Photo 5 shows real size of the shingle and what the shingle with the top cut off looks like. Call DNR Construction for all your roofing needs (302) 462-6135
