It’s often the small details that give a building its character.

This Juliet balcony is one of several details we incorporated into this mixed-use building in Fairhope, Alabama.

From the curved balcony and custom ironwork to the arched windows and dormer detailing, each element was designed to give the building a sense of permanence and character.

A character study for a new home taking shape on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs.

Designed for a location within walking distance of downtown Ocean Springs and just steps from the scenic Front Beach and Ocean Springs Yacht Club, this home draws inspiration from the timeless coastal cottages that have long defined the area.

The design has continued to evolve through design development but the overall character remains rooted in a simple, timeless Gulf Coast vernacular.

We’re excited to watch this one come to life with BW Artisan Homes.

We’re excited to see the owners of this project finally settled in and making this house their home.

This was a rewarding project from beginning to end, made even better by great clients and a contractor who shared our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

The best projects happen when the owner, architect, and contractor are working toward the same goal, and this one was a great example of that.

Grateful to have been a part of bringing this home to life.

Construction is officially underway on this Biloxi Back Bay residence designed to feel timeless, refined, and full of character while still providing all the comforts and functionality of a modern home.

Sitting directly in a flood zone, the design takes a different approach than the typical elevated home on piles often seen throughout coastal areas. The ground level is intentionally utilized for parking, with substantial concrete walls providing both a physical and visual sense of strength. Flood vents and louvers allow water to move through the space while maintaining the character of the design.

Above, the home combines traditional proportions and familiar architectural details with clean lines and modern amenities. The goal was simple: a home with charm and class that feels like it could have been there for generations, while functioning like a home designed today.

Now we get to watch the vision take shape.

A modern take on the traditional cottage.

Designed by architect George Denmark of Denmark Designs, this single-family residence pairs clean, modern lines with familiar Southern cottage elements. Dark board-and-batten siding, warm wood accents, and oversized wood brackets at the entry create a strong contrast while keeping the overall character simple and refined.

LeBatard Architecture provided overflow drafting support for the project, helping bring the design from concept to construction documents.

A great example of how traditional forms and details can be reinterpreted with a clean, contemporary approach.

This character study explores a new residence in Ocean Springs, MS where Southern vernacular architecture is interpreted through a modern lens. Deep roof overhangs help shield the home from western sun, while the raised structure responds to the Gulf Coast’s flood conditions, creating both resilience and a stronger presence along the street.

Rather than chasing trends, the design is rooted in climate, context, and timeless proportions. Every decision serves a purpose, allowing the architecture to feel as though it has always belonged here.

Guess the age of the home below. Timeless homes aren’t designed by following what’s popular today. They’re designed by getting the fundamentals right.

Simple, well-proportioned massing. Authentic architectural details. Quality materials. Thoughtful scale. These are the elements that create homes people love for generations—not just for a season.

When every dormer, porch column, window, and roofline has purpose, the architecture feels effortless. That’s what gives a home warmth, character, and lasting curb appeal.

Great architecture isn’t about chasing the latest look. It’s about designing something that will feel just as inviting 30 years from now as it does today.

A well-designed home doesn’t ask for attention, it earns admiration over time.

Classic architecture never goes out of style.

Designed for the beautiful North Hills community in Fairhope, Alabama, this home embraces a transitional architectural language that balances timeless character with clean, refined contemporary detailing. Traditional proportions, layered materials, and thoughtfully crafted details are paired with modern lines and simplified forms to create a home that feels both familiar and fresh.

Our goal was to design a house that respects the architectural heritage of the neighborhood while reflecting the way families live today. The result is a home with lasting curb appeal that will feel just as relevant decades from now as it does today.

Sometimes the best architectural solutions are the simplest.

The original front door was exposed to the weather year-round, leading to premature wear while leaving guests and deliveries with little protection from the rain.

Our goal wasn’t to make the addition stand out, it was to make it feel like it had always belonged. By studying the home’s proportions, rooflines, and architectural language, we designed a covered entry that seamlessly integrates with the existing house while creating a welcoming arrival experience and protecting the entry for years to come.

Every project begins with a vision.

The first image is the completed marina building. Swipe to see the original concept, which included a taller tower and a second floor envisioned for a waterfront restaurant or residential units overlooking the marina.

As the project moved forward, funding requirements and budget constraints simplified the scope, resulting in the building that stands today.
