Speaking of favorite nurseries, I have been shopping at Raft Island Roses since I was in highschool. Frank has always been a wonderful role model and plantsman. We are lucky Mike decided to keep the ball rolling and evolved the nursery to what it is today. If you ever find yourself in Gig Harbor, make sure to stop in for some great deals and excellent roses.

I always have fun Satsop Nursery , even in a torrential downpour. 🤓 I have frequented many nurseries over the years, this is the best kind. Really knowledgeable and friendly staff and so many healthy beautiful plants! Halfway between Montesano and Elma, use the Brady fire station exit and you'll be almost there. Happy planting season 😁

It's deer rutting season again! Deer rub their antlers on tree branches and trunks that are 3/4" to 1 1/2" to mark their territory. Unfortunately, it is very stressful for the trees when the bark is disturbed and many branches can be knocked off. Now is a great time to do some preventive maintenance by adding deer guards. There are many products available on Amazon, alternatively, you can use 4-in flexible, drain pipe or even a pool noodle. Better yet, call Coastal Yard Designs if you would like any assistance.

The carpenter has just completed the finishing touch! The homeowner shared with me that they had acquired this on a family vacation many years ago and never had quite the right spot for it. Well it looks like it has found its home. Lavender is one of our go to Deer friendly plants. Here's a handy guide for keeping them happy for years to come. Although they suggested June/July for the first cut, go ahead and do it in the next week if you can. However it's important to let the new growth have a chance to harden off before winter! I had the opportunity to visit the Northwest Native Plant Garden at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma today. It is so beautiful and fun to see all the native plants being happy in all their glory. A few years back, I was able to help redesign a test Garden to show people how they can use native plants in their landscape. It was fun to check in on that and see its progress and development. If you're ever in Tacoma, plan an hour to immerse yourself in all of our native beauty.

Presto-chango! What started as a practical doggy yard, has been transformed into a landscape. The clover will fill in and the "She-Tralier" will be repositioned on it's new parking pad, and it will just get better and better! Thanks again to E&H landscape service LLC !
