After 31 years of dedicated service, we are celebrating the retirement of a valued Ironhouse Sanitary District employee, Collections Supervisor Frank Casey.

Throughout his career, Frank has played an important role in supporting the District’s mission and serving our community. His knowledge, hard work, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the District, his colleagues, and the residents we serve.

At the September 1 District Board Meeting, Frank was recognized by the Board President, Board of Directors, and District staff with an honorary retirement certificate and was praised for his many contributions to Ironhouse Sanitary District over the years.

Please join us in congratulating Frank on this remarkable milestone. We thank him for his 31 years of service and wish him a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retirement.

Happy National Toilet Paper Day!

Toilet paper is designed to break down during the wastewater treatment process, helping protect our collection system and treatment facility. Many other products labeled as “flushable” do not break down in the same way and can contribute to costly clogs and sewer backups.

Behind every flush is a team working to protect public health and the environment. Ironhouse Sanitary District is proud to provide reliable wastewater services that help keep our community clean and healthy every day.

Thank you for doing your part by flushing only the Three P’s: p*e, p**p, and toilet paper. Together, we can keep our community flowing smoothly.

August is National Water Quality Month, a time to recognize the essential role that special districts and our community play in protecting water resources. Clean water supports healthy families, protects local waterways, and helps keep all of us safe.

At Ironhouse Sanitary District, that work happens every day through the safe collection, treatment, and recycling of wastewater for the residents of Oakley and Bethel Island. Ironhouse produces high-quality recycled water for non-drinking uses such as landscape irrigation. This recycled water reduces the demand for potable water and provides a drought-resistant water source for our ratepayers.

You can make a difference, too: Don't flush wipes, and refrain from putting fats, oils, and grease down the drain. Small actions at home go a long way toward protecting our shared water resources.

Ironhouse Sanitary District is proud to employ people who are dependable, dedicated, safety-conscious, solution-oriented, team-focused, and committed to the protection of our water resources.

District employee Dominick Gardiner exemplifies these qualities and was recently named Collection System Person of the Year by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA), an organization of more than 10,000 wastewater professionals empowered to protect the state's most critical resource: water.

Dominick was also recognized by CWEA for playing an integral role in maintaining the District's infrastructure, advancing innovation and efficiency, and demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting the public health of the communities Ironhouse serves.

Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement, Dominick!
