We love historic homes! This 1920's Mission style home in Piedmont took on a new life with a second story addition by our architectural designer, Michael Davisson. Beautiful interiors by and build by . Architectural inspiration came from focusing on the unique architectural details of the original house. Incorporating similar arches, tile roofs, generous roof overhangs and fun parapet details created a seamless transition between the old and new, while the added bedrooms gave their growing family plenty of room to spread out. The best part? A spacious and private courtyard-style roof deck to enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful views.

We really enjoyed working on this custom new construction build 🪚 Our design approach was to blend a modern aesthetic with craftsman sensibility to fit the neighborhood feel. Natural light and fresh air flow through this bright Oakland home, with open floor plans and wide sliders creating a connection from the indoors to the outdoors.

Today we’re highlighting Lana Williams, the incredible plant designer on our project 🪴 Lana’s depth of knowledge, creative approach, and impeccable style brought the spaces to life. Since day one of design, we knew incorporating living greenery would be a vital counterpoint to the cold surfaces and angles of the historic concrete mid-century space.
