Remediation of root intruded septic leach line.

Anytime a septic leach line is located near trees, roots are going to be an issue eventually. Copper sulfate can be used on a regular basis to minimize root intrusion. We’ll discuss where to get it and how to use it in another post. Once root have intruded the leach line your best option is a remediation.

Remediation, what's that? Think of it as repairing your leach lines. Sometimes leach lines can become impacted with roots, reducing their ability to let effluent through to leach out into the surrounding rock.

Through a process called remediation, Bio-Tech, removes the roots and restores flow to your septic leach lines in a matter of days, at a fraction of the cost of adding a new line.

This is an appropriate presentation for the season. Note that the green sprigs have been added. This is a sewer line root mass removed during a remediation procedure at a home in Oakhurst. It developed as the result of a cracked fitting and the mass extended into the leach field causing additional blockage. The problem was solved and the system placed back in service. This Christmas wreath was free and is proudly displayed in our office despite our office staff's unwillingness to hang it.

Start the coming New Year out right!

Put your septic system on a low grease, fat and oil free diet.

The health of your septic system depends on what you put in it. Grease, fat and oil are big no nos. The bacteria in your tank are designed to process waste and toilet paper and not much else.

Just like the arteries in the human body an overabundance of grease, fat or oil can solidify, like in the picture above and clog your septic system’s pipes and/or leach lines. The results are sewage backing up in to the house, a septic heart attack if you will.

Pumping your tank regularly can help prevent sludge and grease buildup, but prevention is the key. Keep as much grease, fat and oil from going down the drain as possible by depositing it in the trash instead.
