When selling a home, the details matter.
A client called us this week because their buyer’s inspector flagged “holes in the mortar” on their brick exterior. They had paid a “handyman” to come out and fill them in for them, but here’s the problem:
Those weren’t random holes. They were weep drains—designed to let water escape from behind the brick. Blocking them can trap moisture and cause serious long-term damage.
This is why it’s so important to hire both inspectors and contractors who truly understand what they’re looking at. This “quick fix” could have cost the new homeowner thousands later in water damage, and cost my client service fees for another “handyman” to fill them, and then again for us to clean them out since they never should’ve been filled in the first place.
At Adams Home Services, we don’t just check the box, we make sure the repair is done the right way.
