The Brasilia drawers. Match carved and face carved. It's rather satisfying to see them all glide in with the soft close slides.

Handles were custom made here on Whidbey and powder coated by Jonathan.

[update: thank you all for voting! I appreciate each of you. Unfortunately Grizzly's site was crashing on the day I entered, so it was all a bit of a flop, not all votes were getting counted. After back and forth with their IT tech they couldn't figure it out. I'm very bummed after all the time I put into entering.]

In a world of increasing products and services created with computers and machines, I'm wanting to grow my business by providing more and more stuff that's real and authentic. Stuff that's born from a human's mind and crafted by human hands. Everything you buy from me is made by me in my shop. I may get some help, and certainly there's elements like drawer slides that are made with the help of CNC manufacturing, but the lion's share of the design and finished items are created by a human for other humans.
I want everything I make to resemble the God-given spirit within each person, the individual ability to create something new. Just like the people making cool stuff out there, each piece has a bit of whimsy, character, that can't be faked. I guess what I'd like is that when you see my pieces you can tell right away that a person was behind it, someone who put a bit of themselves into it.

One thing about designing I find satisfying is making something look unexpected. File drawers are often beastly commercial lumps. Noisy, cold, and soulless, often hidden in that room no one sees. Yet when adapted into a form that’s smooth and good looking, they can be placed anywhere. The bonus is that a file drawer like this can just act like a normal drawer.

This little cabinet, which I call the Otago, packs a lot of uses. I designed it to look good almost anywhere, as office file drawers, a bedside table, an end/side table, or as pictured, an under-desk cabinet.
