Nearly twenty PCA affiliated attendees earned Continuing Education (CEU) credit toward renewal of their plumbing license at our July 23rd class offered through the Construction Safety Council (CSC) thanks to a grant it secured through OSHA. CSC instructor George Patino led the “Excavation Dangers” 4-hour class, which featured pertinent information and guidance supplemented by videos and discussion among the registrants. Held at the PCA’s classroom facility, the class was well-planned and well-received. Our association is grateful to the CSC (and CEO Bob Lahey) for making the session possible.

Important Notice:

Contractor Information & Guidance for Plumbers’ Local 130 Apprentice Fringe Benefit Contributions on Prevailing Wage Projects

Attention PCA Contractors: the Union and Associations on July 16, 2026 signed-off on an agreed-to Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding Illinois HB 2488 (effective July 1, 2026) which requires full journeyworker fringe contributions to be made on behalf of union apprentices working on Prevailing Wage projects only. The attached letter sent by Plumbers’ Local 130 U.A. on July 17 to all signatory contractors explains this change.

The PCA hosted a 4-hour OSHA Continuing Education class on Fall Protection last Thursday at our Oak Brook office, helping attendees earn required hours for their Illinois/Chicago plumbing license renewal.

Thank you to the Construction Safety Council, led by Bob Lahey, and instructor Tim Janis for providing valuable, hands-on safety training focused on preventing jobsite falls, especially in the plumbing trade.

Our April 8 PCA meeting at Harry Caray’s in Lombard brought together contractors, associate members, and industry experts for an evening full of learning and connection.

From OSHA’s trenching & excavation presentation to key updates from PCA leadership, the night led into an engaging legal panel covering everything from employee policies to union rights and more. The discussion was so impactful, we may be bringing it back for an encore!
