UPDATE AS OF 2:54 p.m., July 29. The closed lanes on southbound I-55 have reopened. Expect residual backup along the interstate as far north as I-44. ORIGINAL POST: Southbound I-55 is closed south of Gasconade in the city of St. Louis due to police activity. At this time, it is unknown how long the interstate will be closed. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to get to their destination.
