April's Home Management Checklist: Inside & Out
Spring is finally settling in—and April is the perfect month to get your home or business back in shape after winter. Whether it’s freshening up the yard, preparing for summer heat, or knocking out overdue indoor tasks, a little work now saves a lot of stress later.

OUTDOOR CHECKLIST – Curb Appeal, Function, and Safety
Yard & Landscape Tasks:
[ ] Rake up winter debris and leaves
[ ] Prune trees and shrubs (skip spring bloomers for now)
[ ] Cut back dead perennials and ornamental grasses
[ ] Clean out and edge flower beds
[ ] Apply fresh mulch (2–3 inches thick, not piled on trunks)
[ ] Fertilize lawn and beds
[ ] Apply pre-emergent w**d control
[ ] Aerate compacted soil

[ ] Mow as needed—clean, sharp blades only
[ ] Water early-season plantings if rain is light

[ ] Check roof for damaged or missing shingles
[ ] Inspect foundation for cracks or pooling water
[ ] Repair/replace window and door screens

Spring Cleaning & Safety Tasks:
[ ] Test smoke and CO detectors (fresh batteries!)
[ ] Change HVAC filter
[ ] Schedule an A/C checkup before the first 90-degree day
[ ] Vacuum refrigerator coils
[ ] Clean dryer vent—lint fires are no joke
[ ] Deep clean windows and screens
[ ] Check basement/crawlspace for leaks or mold
[ ] Flip ceiling fans to counterclockwise (pushes cool air down)
[ ] Declutter closets, cabinets, and drawers
[ ] Rotate or flip mattresses

[ ] Update and restock emergency supplies
