Location, location, location is more than a real estate saying—it is often the first layer of smart development.

Foley Schmidt makes a great point: major retailers and restaurants do an incredible amount of homework before choosing where to invest. Chick-fil-A, Costco, Trader Joe’s, Target, Starbucks, Home Depot, and others are studying traffic, income, population growth, rooftops, and long-term demand well before a new sign goes up.

For us in construction, those signals matter.

When strong retailers, grocery anchors, and restaurants start moving into an area, it often points to a community that is growing, investing in itself, and positioned for continued residential and commercial development.

Of course, retail alone does not make a project successful. But it can be a meaningful indicator of where people want to live, work, shop, and put down roots.

At Mosaic Construction, we believe the best projects start with understanding the full picture—not just the site itself, but the community and momentum around it.

Here’s a fun fact for today: A Home Depot store is located within 10 miles of nearly 90% of the U.S. population.

That’s a whole lot of lumber, power tools and weekend projects within driving distance. 🛠️

It’s also a great reminder of how thoughtful construction and strategic locations can make a brand part of everyday life in communities across the country.

We’re proud to see the continued progress taking place on this exciting project.
Mosaic Construction is serving as the owner’s representative, working alongside ownership, the design team, contractors, and other project partners to help keep the work aligned with the client’s vision, budget, schedule, and operational needs.
Our role is to advocate for the owner throughout the process—helping coordinate the many moving parts, asking the right questions, anticipating challenges, and supporting informed decisions as the project moves forward.
There is still more work ahead, but it is rewarding to see the vision beginning to take shape. We’re grateful to be part of the team bringing it to life.

Last week, our staff had the opportunity to take a hard-hat tour of our newly renovated Skokie Museum, led by CEO Bernard Cherkasov. Seeing the transformation firsthand was both inspiring and deeply meaningful.

As our reimagined Museum takes shape, we're reminded that every new space has been thoughtfully designed to strengthen our mission to Remember the Past, Transform the Future, ensuring future generations can learn, reflect, and be inspired for years to come.
