We get so many questions from customers about Spring hydrangea care. This is a great basic guide for your Spring maintenance of your hydrangeas. If you aren't comfortable pruning them yourself you can always call us to have your hydrangeas pruned in Spring!

If you grow the right hydrangea varieties, spring pruning can be a simple cleanup job instead of the stressful guessing game people make it out to be 🤍
✂️ Smooth and panicle hydrangeas bloom on new wood, so spring pruning usually works well for them
🌿 I like waiting until I can clearly see winter damage before cutting anything back
📌 My tip: prune lightly at first if you’re unsure, because taking too much is a lot harder to fix than taking too little

Is your lawn looking a little matted from the winter snow?? Dethatching is the answer. We recommend dethatching at least once per year, preferably in Spring.

Dethatching helps remove the dead grass layer from the surface, allowing water and nutrients to flow easier into the root zone.

It also helps lift the grass from the surface of the lawn, and lets it breathe. Winter can really pack down the blades due to all the heavy snow.

Finally, some snow mold damage can easily be helped by dethatching.
