We know you’ve shoveled the driveway but …don’t forget your shrubs after a snowstorm!
Heavy, wet snow can do real damage to your landscaping, especially delicate shrubs and young trees. The day after it snows, take a few minutes to check them.
Why it matters:
Snow adds weight. Branches can bend, crack, or snap under the pressure.
Ice makes it worse. Once the snow melts and refreezes, the weight multiplies.
Damaged shrubs = expensive replacements come spring.
What to do:
Gently brush snow off with your hand or a soft broom.
Extra homeowner pro tip:
Next time snow is in the forecast, tie vulnerable shrubs loosely with twine in advance. It keeps branches tighter and less likely to splay or break.
