After wet sanding the patche's edges to blend well and ensuring the surface is flat (via the "light trick"), the patch is ready to be stamped!

I use USG 3 compound and water (the mix ratio is in the instructions but as a general rule, the more water you use, the drippier/thinner your pattern will be.

After applying new drywall tape with a coat of Easy Sand, I apply 2 coats of USG Plus 3 joint compound.

My timelapse of texturing a garage ceiling with a stamp pattern. After scraping all of the loose/peeling paint and surrounding stamp patterns, I mudded the edges, then floated out the edges to center with a 2nd coat of mud / topping. Wet sanding to follow (pre-mix topping is easier to wet sand than the dry/powdered stuff), to make the edges blend.

I mixed about 2-3 gallons of pre-mix topping with water for this project. I stamp the lid on the ground to rid some of the stamp so the pattern isn't so heavy, and if the pattern is still heavy on the ceiling, I take some from the heavy pattern when the stamp is more dry.

After the stamps dry, I knock the tips off and surface smoother with a wooden block.

Finally, I paint the stamps twice and the rest of the ceiling once.

I hope you enjoy!
