As the first Fortune 500 Chairman to speak at the Little Rock Touchdown Club, John Tyson shared plenty of wisdom, honesty and Razorback pride with the Club last week.
Tyson spoke about his own journey, from being fired from the family company by his father to restarting at the bottom of the ladder.
His grandfather started Tyson by delivering chickens from Arkansas to Chicago, and today Tyson remains proud of those Arkansas roots.
“Arkansas is a great state with great, hardworking people. Show up every day and give it a chance. Then give a little more.”
Much of the conversation centered around the Razorbacks and what it will take to continue building successful programs. His advice to Hog fans was simple: “Talk about the great things.” Support the young men and women representing the University of Arkansas and give them the opportunity to have a great experience being supported by Razorback fans.
When asked about the financial support needed to build those programs, Tyson said it will take everyone coming together and building it “a brick at a time.”
And when compared to Cody Campbell and Mark Cuban and asked if Tyson would give more, he smiled and delivered the line of the day:
“Campbell has oil. We’ve got chickens.”
Food, fun, football and family. Another great day at the Little Rock Touchdown Club.
