Police have released the identify of a North Charleston teenager who got his tongue bitten off during an alleged sexual assault Friday.

In North Charleston this past weekend a man entered a Waffle House and attempted an armed robbery. I say attempted because a patron of the restaurant happened to be licensed to carry a concealed weapon and was armed at the time. Fearing for his own life and the lives of others, the permit holder was able to use his concealed weapon to stop the threat and likely saved lives.

Anchor Security, LLC is licensed by National Rifle Association to teach basic fi****ms safety and by the State of South Carolina to instruct the Concealed Weapons Permit class. Our approach is different than most in that we can provide you the instruction in the privacy of your own home when it is convenient with your schedule rather than you giving up an entire Saturday or Sunday to travel a long distance and sit in a classroom with a bunch of strangers. The decision to carry a concealed weapon is a personal one and one that should not be taken lightly. If you decide that it is right for you, let Anchor Security, LLC coach you through the process.

On this somber anniversary we all probably remember where we were when we heard the news that the World Trade Center buildings had been attacked. The US learned several important lessons that day as did many individual Americans. Two that come to mind are to always have an exit plan and the other is to have a back up of important documents in a separate location. When you think of an emergency you may think of an ER. Personal security planning has the same initials, Egress and Redundancy.

I have seen several documentaries that featured a company was in one of the towers that had a security expert on staff. The company occupied several full floors and the security manager periodically made the employees all the way up to the CEO practice “fire drills” like you did in elementary school. It made sense then and it makes sense now. Because that firm had a plan, just about all of their employees made it out alive. If your home or place of business catches on fire, how will you get out? If an “active shooter” comes into your place of business, where will you hide where they cannot see you? How will you secure your location? Where is the closest exit or can you make an exit?

Another lesson we learned that day is to have a back-up of your important documents and store it in a separate location. There were companies whose headquarters were in the towers that had been in business for a hundred years or more. In an instant, there was little proof that they ever even existed. All of their documents and files were either destroyed in the fires or were some of the millions of pieces of paper blowing out of the towers. Computers were destroyed, cabinets blow apart, vaults breached; you name it, every security measure failed.

Anchor Security specializes in protecting their clients through education and information. We can help educate you on having a personal security plan for you and your family and give you food for thought on subjects that may one day have a tremendous impact on your life but that you have given little thought to. We also provide video documentation services that will provide a record of everything that you own in the event of a theft, fire or natural disaster. The client is provided a copy of the video, Anchor Security maintains a copy and a copy is stored offsite on a cloud based server. In an event such as a hurricane, where both the client’s home or business is destroyed as well as the Anchor Security office, there will be a copy that can be accessed at any time. In the time of such a significant catastrophe and loss, trying to remember everything you once owned for insurance or law enforcement purposes would be a monumental if not impossible task.

I often ask “How safe ARE you?” with the emphasis on the word “are” in the hopes that it will make people think more about their own personal safety and security. It is imperative that you and your family have a plan and that you constantly go over it and revise it when necessary. The world changes at a very rapid pace just as do it’s people and crime. When it comes to personal safety and protection, complacency can kill you.
