We usually get another three or four weeks of real summer here, and your AC works straight through all of it. So don't put it away yet. Keep changing the filter, and if it started making a noise back in August, that noise didn't fix itself. 👀

Your AC just finished the hardest three months it'll face all year 🌡️

June, July and August on the Grand Strand is about as hard as we ask a system to work. Whatever got a little worse over the summer, a capacitor that's weakening, a coil that's loaded up, refrigerant that's slightly low, it's all still there heading into September. And September down here is not exactly cool.

The World Am rolls in this weekend and the Grand Strand's about to fill up with a few thousand golfers chasing 72 holes in the August heat ⛳️

School's back in, and so is the part of our work most people never see 🏫

Coastal does commercial too. Schools, restaurants, retail, warehouses, hundreds of them across the Grand Strand. Different scale, same principle: the system that fails is almost never the one somebody was watching.

A rooftop unit over a full cafeteria doesn't get to have an off day in August. So we run preventive contracts, and most of that work is boring on purpose. Scheduled, documented, handled before anybody notices anything was going to happen.

Ragweed starts up around now and runs until first frost, which around here is basically never 🌾

If late August is when your eyes go and you can't work out why, it's worth looking at what your system is doing with the air. A filter that's packed stops filtering and starts just blocking. Past that there are media filters and UV options that handle the small stuff a basic filter never catches.

Not a sales pitch, just the thing people don't connect. Every bit of air in your house is going through one filter.

Our trucks are out before most people are up, so we see the bus stops every morning. Kids waiting in the dark at the end of a driveway and parents in bathrobes and somebody’s kid sprinting down the street because he’s late again 😅

Horry County Schools put out a solid refresher on the stopping laws. It’s worth two minutes of your attention, especially the multi-lane rules.

Give yourself a few extra minutes for the next couple of weeks and take it easy through the neighborhoods. Everybody’s still settling into the new routine, drivers included.

School starts Wednesday — our buses and students are back on the road!

Please slow down and stay alert this week and beyond. A quick refresher on school bus stopping laws:

- Two-lane roads: Traffic in BOTH directions must stop for a stopped bus with flashing lights.
- Multi-lane roads: Vehicles BEHIND the bus must stop. Oncoming traffic should proceed with caution.

Illegally passing a stopped school bus can mean a $1,062.50 fine and 6 points on your license — but more importantly, it can cost a child their life.

Let's all do our part to keep our students safe. Slow down, stop when required, and always watch for kids near bus stops.

"Tune-up" sounds vague until you watch one 🔧

Ours is 21 points. Some of what's on the list: refrigerant pressures checked against what the system should actually be running, amp draw on the compressor and fan motors (rising numbers mean a part is tiring before it fails), the condensate line and pan, electrical connections that heat cycles work loose over a season, coil condition, and the thermostat calibration nobody thinks to question.

Most of it isn't fixing anything that day. It's catching the thing that would've quit in the middle of the next heat wave.

Charleston, the Southeast Crab Feast is today 🦀

Lowcountry summer doing what it does best: everybody around one table, newspaper down, mallets out, nobody in a hurry.

Hosting your own version this weekend? A full house on an August afternoon is a real load on the AC. Cool the house down before people arrive rather than fighting it after, keep furniture off the return vents, and accept that somebody's going to touch the thermostat anyway 😄
