In the heart of Evans, Georgia, an outdated backyard became the starting point for the homeowners’ dream landscape.

The property had sustained further damage after Hurricane Helene, and existing drainage issues complicated its potential. The homeowners wanted to expand their outdoor living space, with room to welcome friends and family and enjoy quieter days at home.

The design began with understanding how they envisioned using the backyard and what the environment would allow. Addressing drainage was essential to the landscape’s long-term success, while a revised layout opened up more space to spend time outside. Plant selections reflected the growing conditions, bringing a sense of continuity to the design that will develop as the garden matures.

The finished landscape reflects the consideration behind it. A Verdant Landscape shaped by the property and the people who call it home.

We’ve missed her bubbly personality and her baked goods. We’re like a little family here at Verdant, and we love when our people come back to see us! 🌱

Creating movement in your landscape begins with considering the property as a whole. We intentionally connect each outdoor zone so the transition between spaces feels natural. Organic lines echo the flowing shapes found in nature, guiding the eye through the garden. Repeating a material from the home within the hardscape adds continuity to the overall design.

That same attention extends to how the landscape will function over time. Drainage must be addressed before construction so water moves safely through the property and away from the home. Plants selected for the conditions where they will grow can reduce ongoing resource needs, while spacing for their mature size helps prevent overcrowding.

These decisions shape our approach at Verdant Landscape, creating outdoor spaces that feel cohesive from the beginning and have room to mature.

Built for years to come.

At this Country Club Hills home in Augusta, a failing wooden retaining wall was allowing soil to wash into the lower yard. The small patio limited space for entertaining, and rotting wood had made it unsafe.

Our Verdant Landscape team rebuilt the retaining wall to suit the property’s slopes and surrounding landscape for long-term stability. We also created a larger patio that gives the homeowners room to comfortably host family and friends.

Great landscape design starts with understanding the property and how people want to use it. This backyard now reflects both.

One of our core values here at Verdant Landscape is family, and we live up to that value every day.

It’s almost impossible to catch all our crew members in one place, but we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without every single one of our crew members. From those that bring the projects to life, maintaining landscapes, to the ones behind the scenes, we are so thankful for everyone that is apart of the Verdant Landscape family.

We wouldn’t be nothing without all of you! 💚
