When one of our customers in Boxford called because they had no water, we ran out to diagnose what was going on. We soon found that the well had stopped producing water. The water table was down around 275’ where the pump was set, and the total depth of the well only about 300’. There was virtually NO water filling the well.

Knowing how crucial it is to have water in your home, we worked quickly to fill the well and get them by until our friends at Mckinestry could hydrofracture the well. The problem: there was no way to get his truck into the backyard, so we helped lay 300ft of pipe from the street to the well so he could effectively do his job without needing to tear down fences, trees, etc.

The hydrofracture was a success, and the well produces plenty of water for the house! We flushed it out, did some testing, and now everyone is relieved!

One of our customers from the past moved into a new home and within a month of living there suddenly had no water coming out of the taps! We quickly headed over to see what was going on. The pump was running at a healthy amperage, however we noticed the water level in the well was not dropping an inch. This meant the water was flowing back into the well. Sure enough, when we pulled up the pump 400’ we found a break in the pipe. We patched it up, adjusted the pressure controls at the tank system and and she was back up and running the same day!

This was due to the pressure settings being too high. When the water level in the well dropped, the pump had to work harder and wasn’t able to build up to shut-off pressure. It ran for too long without flowing water and the impellers on the pump caused so much friction and heat that it lead to steam, steam created pressure and the pipe burst wide open. Luckily the pump was okay!

The well has an extremely low yield, making less than a quarter gallon per minute, so there is still lots to do but problem solved for now

This new customer in Haverhill called because she recently tested her well water after having stomach issues and found coliform bacteria POSITIVE along with a high level of manganese. She had no existing filtration system, so we installed exactly what she needed: a water softener including a prefilter to eliminate the manganese, and sanitized the system including an ultraviolet light to ensure the water is free of bacteria. Once on-site, recommended installing a properly sealed well cap to prevent pests and debris from entering the drinking water supply.
