Don't apply for your student visa without knowing this...

If you're a student 🎓 Since August 1, 2026, the amount of financial resources you're required to prove to get a student visa for France has been revised. The €615/month requirement is no longer in effect. Starting in August, it is €877,5/month.

– The 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 required for a French student visa have increased.

The old €615/month requirement is no longer the amount to rely on.

And be careful: the platform may still show the old amount on your side. It was still displaying €615 as recently as last week for some applicants.

But the requirement has changed.

So before submitting your application, make sure you’re working with the new financial (€877,5/month) threshold and not simply following what the platform currently displays.

You need to prove that you've been a 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.

Last year, you did not have to prove such requirements.

This year, you should be prepared to prove it with the appropriate documents.

So if you're applying for a student permit this year, make sure you understand what you actually need.

There are two ways to get a visa for France.

But only one will spare you the sleepless nights.

Option 1: Trial & error
• You scour every forum that contradicts each other
• You create 12 different document checklists
• You change your approach after every rejection
• You spend months hoping 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬

• You follow a proven roadmap

7 questions to identify the weak points in your transition from student to employee in less than 2 minutes.

1. Does your future position truly align with your background and qualifications?
2. Does your salary meet the requirements for your future employment status?
3. Does your employer know the steps they’ll need to take on their end?
4. Have you identified the specific documents that will be required for your application?
5. Does your application present a coherent narrative linking your studies, your experience, and your future job?
6. Do you know exactly when to submit your application to avoid getting into a complicated situation and to be ready on your first day on the job?
7. If the authorities ask you for additional information tomorrow, is your application ready to provide it?

Take the next 2 minutes to answer these 7 questions honestly.

Every “I don’t know” is a point to check.

And the sooner you identify these points, the more time you’ll have to correct them before they become a problem when your status changes.

Getting a French visa isn't as hard as people make it seem.

It comes down to 3 things:

- Know which visa you actually need
- Prepare documents that prove you can support yourself here
- File at the right time

Get those right, and the visa follows.

Not luck. A file that meets the criteria works. Every time.

Here's the problem.

Most people skip the basics.

They watch a scary YouTube video at midnight. They listen to Dave, who got a different visa, in a totally different situation, 3 years ago. They let a Facebook group vote on their case. Nobody in that group has seen their file.

I once watched someone pull a document from their file because of a random post in an expat group.

Result: refusal, on a file that would've worked exactly as it was.

The right visa.
The right documents.
Filed at the right time.

That's it.

Everything else is noise.

And noise doesn't build your file. It breaks it.

Entrepreneurship in France: the pros & cons for foreigners.

Everyone talks about finding a job in France.
But what they don’t always consider is that starting a business can also be a route to building a life in France.

Here are the pros & cons.

PROS:
➕ You’re not dependent on an employer.
Your residence project doesn’t depend entirely on finding and keeping a job with a French company.
➕ You can build something around your own expertise.
Consulting, services, freelancing, or another business model may give you more flexibility than traditional employment.
➕ You can create your own professional opportunities.
Instead of waiting for the right job offer, you’re building your own activity.
➕ It can fit your long-term plans.
Entrepreneurship can form part of a longer-term plan to live in France or to obtain French citizenship.

CONS:
➖ Having a business idea isn't enough.
You need to demonstrate that the project is credible and meets the administration's expectations.
➖ The administration will look at the project seriously.
“I'm going to start a business in France” isn't, by itself, a strategy.
➖ You’re responsible for making it work.
There’s no employer paying your salary every month.
➖ It isn't necessarily the easiest route.
The life of an entrepreneur isn't for everyone, an employment-based route may make more sense.

The verdict:
Entrepreneurship can open up real opportunities for a foreigner who wants to build a life in France.
But only if the project makes sense!
