The good news is a lawn that's stressed from heat usually bounces back once temperatures start dropping and it gets some real care, not chemicals aimed at a pest that isn't there.

Late August is when we put down pre-emergent for winter w**ds, things like henbit, chickw**d, and annual bluegrass that you won't actually see until February. By then it's too late to prevent them, only to fight them. If your lawn's been w**dy every spring, this is usually why.
