Ever wonder what the black coating on a foundation wall is for? 👀

That’s damp proofing.

On this foundation, we applied Mar-Flex to the exterior of the poured walls before the area is backfilled.

The coating helps protect the below-grade concrete from moisture and water pe*******on once the foundation is surrounded by soil. It’s one of those parts of a project that eventually gets completely covered up, but it plays an important role long after construction is finished.

A lot goes into a foundation before the house ever starts going up above it.

What a difference!

This garage floor had definitely seen better days. After some prep work and a new epoxy flake finish, it looks like a completely different space.

Besides cleaning up the look of the garage, these coatings give you a durable surface that’s much easier to keep clean.

If your garage, basement, workshop, or other concrete floor could use the same treatment, give us a call or check us out online.

🌧️ If you needed a reminder that drainage matters, today is a pretty good one.

Days like this are exactly why grading, site prep and drainage matter so much. What happens around your concrete can be just as important as the concrete itself, especially when heavy rain starts hitting foundations, driveways and building sites.

A lot of the work that helps manage water gets covered up once a project is finished, but it makes a difference long after the crews leave.

Stay safe and stay dry out there, Bloomington. ☔

Ever wonder how a house actually connects to its foundation? 🏠

These photos give you a look at our poured wall system before the rest of the house starts going up.

The large forms are set in place to create the shape of the foundation walls before concrete is poured between them. Once the forms are removed, the top of that concrete wall becomes the connection point for the home above.

Those bolts you can see extending from the top of the wall are used to secure the sill plate, which gives the first-floor framing a solid connection to the foundation.

It is one of those parts of a home that eventually gets covered up, but everything above it depends on getting it right.

From the ground up, it starts with a solid foundation. 💪

Some of the most important work on a project gets covered up before anyone ever sees the finished building. 👀

Our crew has been working at Carden Springs, a new residential development taking shape here in Bloomington.

At this stage, every opening, connection, and section of concrete has to be carefully coordinated before the project can move forward. It may not look like the finished product yet, but this behind-the-scenes work is what helps everything come together later. 🎬

Projects of this size take planning, communication, and experienced crews working together from the ground up.
We are proud to be part of another project helping Bloomington continue to grow. 🏗️

Concrete does not always get poured right next to the truck. 👀

Sometimes it has to travel across a jobsite, over obstacles, or into a building before it reaches the crew. That's where the concrete pump comes in.

The boom allows us to place concrete in areas a mixer truck cannot easily reach, while the crew controls the flow and works the concrete into place. It takes constant communication between the pump operator, drivers, and the crew on the ground to keep everything moving safely and efficiently.

Big equipment certainly makes the job look impressive, but it is the coordination behind it that keeps the pour moving. 🏗️

A driveway is one of the first things people see when they pull up. 👀

This one was photographed the day our crew finished it. Clean edges, even lines, and a smooth finish do not happen by accident. They come from careful preparation, good timing, and an experienced crew that knows how to work.

Depending on the size of the project and site conditions, our flatwork crews can pour and finish many driveways in as little as one day.
