Great job to our team for identifying & locating this Red-Shouldered Hawk nest! Red-shouldered hawks are easy to identify. They have red shoulders and a black and white bands on its wings and tail. 🪶

We share our urban landscape with breeding birds that live here year-round or migrate here in spring and summer. Know when to trim your trees or remove hazardous dead trees. Most important reasons for trimming trees is eliminating all the broken branches that could easily become safety hazards during strong winds and heavy rains.

Properly pruned trees are less likely to have densely packed canopies and excessive foliage, which can act as sails in strong winds.

Professional trimming or pruning helps make trees more stable, stronger as well as healthier, all of which makes them more competent in the face of storms.

In this case, we identified and warned the customer months ago that this tree would fall. The rotted wood and reduced strength mean that the tree is more likely to fall during strong winds or storms. Even without wind or storms, the dead tree is more likely to fall at any given time, risking injury and damage to anyone nearby.
