I'm assuming the corsets and those tall boots they wore. It's been in that ceiling for a long time!

Customer had a water leak in the bathroom above their grand entrance way in their beautiful Victorian house in Westerly, Rhode Island. I showed up the day after a
" fire and water cleanup company" , I won't mention who, came here the day before and they were going to take all of this out. The beautiful 5-ft plaster flower medallion on the ceiling. The beautiful crown moldings, all the plaster everything they were going to rip it all out. Throw it in the dumpster. I said get these people out of here. I brought in PC restoration. They did a selective demo. Dried it out with dehumidifiers and fans. And now I'm going to put it all back together like it never happened. Those large" fire and water restoration" companies should be shut down. A house about four houses down the street. I didn't get there in time. They removed the ceilings. The crown moldings, the doors, the trim, the staircase everything because there was a leak. They just want to make work for their friends or whatever they're doing. And they're destroying the history of the house while they're doing it...😡

The Homeowner wants this 1960's brick fireplace to go away in his 1800's home. It's the first thing you see when you come through the front door. Totally the wrong fireplace for this historic home. Base coat layer is on.
Smooth white Venetian plaster to go on later when it's dry.

The owner comes home and calls me the lath master....😆
I said take a good look, because I'm not doing this again!
I patch Woodlath holes all the time. I've been patching it for over 45 years, but I very rarely have to install wood lath ....😳
It must have taken forever to do an entire house. And I'm using a pneumatic staple gun with inch long galvanized Staples. Imagine hand nailing an entire Victorian house. Three stories, all this woodlath....
It takes forever!

My lastest project....3 coat conventional plaster over woodlath.
1715 historic home in Higganum, CT. Ice dam ruined the ceiling & walls.
The Homeowner insisted on plaster over lath.

This week's project:

Faux Woodlath Finish

Plastering a Struc-to-lite and sand plaster mixture over imperial blue board. And making it look like a
150 year old woodlath plaster. Homeowner wanted to do wood lath and I could do it. Insurance wouldn't pay. My next job after this one is a Chubb insurance job and they are paying to have me do real authentic three-coat plastering over wood lath on a keeping room. On this one the homeowners will have to settle for imitation wood lath.

Ran into an old buddy, Rod Ackley, who was walking through mystic yesterday.
Suggested we go for a ride. So I decided not to do any plastering today. We hit Patchogue State Forest today and Arcadia State Forest. 6 and 1/2 hours of riding through the woods on dirt roads. We never took the same road twice!
It's like 30,000 acres or something like that. A beautiful place to ride... campsites, swimming holes, fishing spots, vistas, it's beautiful out there. Can't believe I've had my motorcycle for 7 years and haven't been back out there in almost 6 years.
