Come with us as we transform a beautiful Villanova space into a brand-new Main Line showroom at Cocoon Remodeling!

For this project, we installed Karndean luxury vinyl plank flooring in a stunning Gothic Revival structure dating back to 1892. The historic building brings so much character to the space, and the new flooring adds a fresh, modern touch while complementing the original charm.

Karndean is one of our best-selling flooring options for a reason. It offers the look of hardwood with the durability and versatility needed for a busy space.

We’re excited to watch this showroom come together!

Beautiful hardwood floors start with the right preparation. 🪵

Hardwood floor sanding is one of the most important steps in the refinishing process. It removes the existing finish, scratches, surface imperfections, and signs of everyday wear while creating a clean, smooth surface for the new finish to properly adhere to.

A professional sanding process can help:

✔️ Remove years of wear and scratches
✔️ Smooth out surface imperfections
✔️ Prepare the wood for a fresh stain or finish
✔️ Restore the natural beauty of your hardwood floors
✔️ Give your floors a fresh, like-new appearance

At Alpine Flooring, we take the time to properly prepare your floors before applying the finish because the quality of the preparation makes a difference in the final result.

Refinishing your hardwood floors? The finish you choose matters just as much as the color.

Water based polyurethane is a popular choice because it dries quickly, has very little odor, and avoids the strong fumes associated with oil based finishes.

Then there’s another choice: standard residential or commercial strength water based polyurethane. The commercial strength option is a two component finish designed for extra durability, making it worth considering for homes with large dogs or active kids. 🐾

Not sure which finish fits your household? Give Alpine Flooring a call to schedule a FREE consultation. We’d love to walk you through the options and our refinishing process!

What a transformation in Newtown Square!

This staircase went from carpeted and dated to a completely refreshed look. Our crew removed the existing carpet, posts, and handrails, then installed new red oak stair treads.

To finish the project, we refinished the treads to beautifully match the existing posts and handrails, creating a cohesive, updated look throughout the staircase.

A great example of how refinishing and new hardwood can completely transform a space!

From carpeted stairs to a custom hardwood staircase, this Newtown Square project is a great example of the impact new flooring can make.

We removed the existing carpet, posts, and handrails before installing new red oak stair treads. The treads were then professionally refinished to coordinate with the existing woodwork, bringing the entire staircase together with a seamless, finished look.

The result? A classic hardwood staircase with a fresh, updated feel that completely changes the look of the space.

Check out the full transformation!

Before vs. after… but we’re showing you the after first because look at those floors!

Over time, everyday use can leave buildup that regular cleaning doesn’t fully lift. A professional deep cleaning can give your floors a fresh look.

Two terms you'll hear a lot in the flooring world, but what do they actually mean for your home?

Sanding: A full cut-down of the floor's surface, removing the old finish and a thin layer of wood. Best for floors with deep scratches, heavy wear, or a complete color change.

Screening (also called buffing): A lighter abrasion that scuffs the existing finish so a new coat can bond properly. Best for floors that are structurally sound but have lost their sheen.

Which one does your floor need? That depends on its current condition, how many times it's been sanded before, and what result you're after.

We'll assess your floors honestly and recommend the right approach, not the most expensive one. That's what 25+ years of experience looks like.

Love the idea of new hardwood floors but have no idea which wood to choose? Let’s make it a little easier. 👇

White oak has a smoother, more subtle grain and works beautifully with both light and dark stains. It’s a great choice if you want a versatile look.

Red oak has a more noticeable grain and tends to cost a little less. It looks great with dark stains, while lighter stains let its pink undertones show through.

Hickory has the highest hardness rating of the three and a bold grain pattern. It’s worth a look if you love a floor with lots of character.

The right choice comes down to the look you love and how your household uses the space. Considering new hardwood floors? Give Alpine Flooring a call to schedule a FREE consultation, and we’ll help you explore your options!

A beautiful flooring update from a recent project in Swarthmore!

For this home, we installed Superior Flooring 3 1/4" Premier Grade Red Oak throughout the entire first floor, creating a warm and cohesive look throughout the space.

We also transformed the staircase by replacing the existing pine treads with new red oak treads and crisp white risers. The new treads were stained to match the first-floor hardwood, tying the entire project together.

Every detail was designed to create a seamless, timeless finish!
