That wonderful muggy North Carolina weather finally decided to rear its ugly head but we got through it this week.

Dont ask how long it took two seasoned carpenters to build this landing. Just know it resembles an old Alabama song. “She’s close enough to perfect for me….” 😜😜😜😜
She is square, almost perfectly level, square to the deck, and inline with the deck as well….

After digging the footings and our footer deciding it wanted to be best friend with the electrical service to the house we have passed footer inspections and are moving forward. That particular hole we dug was at 6-1/2 feet deep. Thats deeper than they bury people in the cemetery 😳😳😳
Footer inspections passed with zero issues, footers have been poured, and the main posts have gone in for the first level. Now for the second level, landing, stairs, and all the other details that take a deck from a pile of lumber to an outdoor living space……

I have explained to customers and individuals many many times in the past. Aside from a disastrous house fire a house’s next worst enemy is water and moisture. Its important as homeowners to do our best in keeping water running away from our houses and keep water from getting into our crawlspaces or basements. It will always be impossible to eliminate 100% of moisture and all crawlspaces have dampness but standing water will always be a major offender. Don’t let water sit under your house or you could be replacing the entire substructure of your house.
