ROAD CLOSURE: NE Harney St. between US 20 and NE 3rd St. will be closed to vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians August 3–24 as work continues on the City's Safe Routes to School Project.

Businesses at the US 20/NE Harney commercial plaza will remain open, including Sherwin-Williams and Steen's Master L**e. Access to the parking lot is available on NE 3rd St. (between Grant and Harney).

Please use caution around work zones, allow extra travel time, and check the attached graphic for closure details and access information. We will continue to provide updates on this project as it progresses.

Work on the Safe Routes to School project will begin July 6, bringing important pedestrian, bicycle and traffic safety upgrades on routes between Newport schools. Much of the work will take place on NE Harney between US 20 and NE 7th.

This project is funded through grants from Oregon Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Program, with additional funding provided by the City's Urban Renewal Agency. ODOT is also planning on a number of improvements at the US 20/NE Harney/SE Moore intersection in a separate project. Construction will be completed by Road & Driveway Company.

While work is underway, expect increased construction activity and plan a little extra time if you're traveling through the area. We will keep you updated if there are any road closures as part of this project.
