The difference between December, 2024 – September, 2025:

Same building. Same street. Two very different stories.

In December 2024, the future Teen Development Center at 1205 Dewey was all potential. Framing, scaffolding, dust in the air. You could feel what it wanted to become, but it had not found its voice yet.

By September 2025, that voice arrived. Strong. Bold. Full of color and meaning.

Today, this building is home to the administrative offices and Teen Development Center for the Boys and Girls Club. The exterior murals now reflect the energy, creativity, and spirit of the young people who walk through these doors every day. What was once a construction site is now a true community landmark.

This is why we love before-and-after moments. They remind us that architecture is never just about walls and windows. It is about what those walls and windows make possible.

We are proud of the role Emboss Design played in helping shape a place where opportunity, leadership, and creativity can grow.

From unfinished concrete to finished purpose. This is what making a mark looks like.

In ancient Rome, architects were not just drawing buildings. They were choosing the wall finishes, arranging the furniture, advising civic leaders, and quietly shaping the prosperity of entire communities. They were planners, consultants, interior designers, and occasionally amateur philosophers. And their work is still standing. Tell me design does not matter when you can walk through a structure two thousand years later and critique the tile selections.

At Emboss Design, we like to think we are part of that lineage. When we imagine a building, we are not conjuring empty rooms. In our heads, the space is already furnished, lit, textured, and acoustically tuned. We are picturing the art, the rugs, the wall coverings, the paint colors. The architecture and the interiors arrive together, like inseparable twins who finish each other’s sentences.

Because architecture defines the space, but interiors define the experience. And when the two are conceived in harmony, you get more than a project. You get a place people remember. A place that makes a mark.

The incomparable Jim Kaiser celebrates another year at Emboss this month, and if you have ever worked with him, you know exactly why we are grateful. Jim is our Swiss Army knife: detailed, adaptable, precise, and somehow always three steps ahead of whatever you thought you caught on a drawing set.
Nothing gets past his eyes. Nothing.
He is a generous teacher, a steady mentor, and a master of his craft (even if he does insist on doing it all in CAD).
Help us celebrate Jim and the excellence he brings to our work every single day.

The inimitable Mark Perry is celebrating 22 years with Emboss, and we are all better for it. Mark is the person you want in the room when you are trying to build something that matters. His knowledge of how to get schools built, inspected, occupied, and loved is the kind that only comes from decades of showing up and caring deeply.

Join us in celebrating Mark and the impact he continues to make on every project, every team, and every student who walks into a building he helped bring to life.

100,000+ Meals for FREE!

Did you know that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati served over 100,000 meals last year for free!

Recently we celebrated the ribbon cutting for the new Boys & Girls Club in Price Hill, home to the organization’s administrative offices and the Western & Southern Teen Workforce Development Center.

It is the first workforce program of its kind for Boys & Girls Clubs in the entire state of Ohio. It was created in direct response to one simple question:

What do teens actually need to succeed?

The teens told them. And this building and program is the answer.

Every day, students come for dinner and snacks, for tutoring, mentorship, and a space that sees them fully. Last year alone, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati served more than 100,000 meals, all while running free, evidence based programs for K–12 students… even through the summer. Let me say that again, it is all FREE.

At the event, CEO Bill Bresser, who has led this organization for more than 20 years, reminded everyone why expanding high school programming matters. “You can’t serve students with just one meeting a week.”

Board Chair Dick Williams (CEO of Skyline Chili) spoke about the Williams family’s multigenerational commitment to the Clubs and how this location brings staff offices into the same space where the mission happens every day.

Coca Cola Consolidated and other partners joined in celebrating that shared vision, while Harry and Linda Fath reflected on their philosophy of transformational giving, choosing to go deep with a few organizations rather than spread support thin. As Mr. Fath said in his speech, “This is where the joy is.”

At Emboss Design, we are honored to have helped bring this vision to life. Architecture is most meaningful when it empowers people and this project proves what happens when design, partnership, and purpose align.

It is more than a building.
It is a launchpad.

We’re thrilled to share that Emboss is one of eight finalists for Covington’s public art competition at the former IRS site.

Our entry, Ripple, is a pavilion that celebrates Covington’s history, community, and future. Inspired by the power of a single drop creating ripples, it’s designed as an open, welcoming space for gathering and connection.

We’re proud to be in the final 8 of this competition and hopefully we will get to help shape this new chapter for the riverfront.

We’re proud to have played a part in bringing this vision to life.

Emboss TV Episode 4 is live
For Emboss Day 2025, we are taking you back to the 2023 room where it all happened. DewHaus revealed six identities, each with its own story. We chose the one that felt like us and pointed us forward. Then we announced it to the world at the Red Bull Flugtag Cincinnati with a giant orange dragonfly and a very big splash.

That is what it means to Make a Mark.

We ranked No. 28 and we are still building!

The Cincinnati Business Courier just named Emboss Design to its 2025 list of the 50 largest women-owned businesses in the region (by 2024 revenue).

We’re proud to land at No. 28.

Grateful for clients who trust us, partners who push us, and a team that shows up with talent, hard work, and heart. Being women-owned isn’t just a label; it shapes how we lead, collaborate, and deliver.

We use our tagline "Make a Mark" because that’s the goal: spaces people love, jobs for the trades, and momentum for our region. If this list captures a moment in time, let it be evidence that thoughtful design helps communities move forward... together.

Let’s keep turning ideas into places people love.

From backhoe to backstroke.

This shot of Scott High School’s natatorium is one of our favorites, not just because it shows the space mid-construction, but because we found a nearly identical angle after completion. Same-ish spot, totally different vibe.

What started as a pit inside a shell is now a full-fledged aquatic center where students swim, train, and compete. It's a powerful reminder of the transformation architecture makes possible and how every polished finish starts with a whole lot of groundwork.

We’re proud to support those who’ve served.

The Cincinnati VA Eye Clinic is expanding into nearly 25,000 square feet of newly renovated space at the Baldwin 500 building — nearly doubling its footprint to better serve veterans across the region.

Emboss Design is honored to be the architect for this transformative project, partnering with Corporex to create a space that prioritizes efficiency, accessibility, and patient experience.

Located just two miles from the VA Medical Center in Clifton, the new clinic will consolidate services on a single floor, improving both workflows and the quality of care. Infrastructure upgrades include ADA-compliant access, custom elevator systems, and enhanced power for critical medical equipment.

This project reflects a shared commitment to environments that heal, support, and empower.
