I’ve had termite inspections before, but today’s experience was different. Nathan (“Nate”) was extremely thorough from start to finish. He asked thoughtful questions about my home, checked my walls for potential moisture issues, and even took the time to inspect my very congested garage. I truly felt like he was focused on providing a complete and comprehensive inspection rather than just checking boxes. It’s reassuring to know my home was inspected with such care and attention to detail. I highly recommend Nathan for anyone looking for a thorough and professional inspection.

If you assumed termite season ended when the spring swarm stopped, we've got some coastal Virginia biology for you: subterranean termite colonies in Poquoson never actually take a break. They just get quiet.

Right now, in August, hundreds of thousands of workers are feeding 24 hours a day under Poquoson homes — no swarm, no wings, no dramatic warning. Just steady, hidden damage in sill plates, joists, and crawl-space framing.

Our new blog post walks through why coastal humidity keeps colonies aggressive through late summer, what termite damage actually looks like in walls and floors, and the seven-point checklist we walk during a Poquoson inspection. If you've been putting off booking one, this is the moment. Link in bio.

If you've been spotting more spiders around your Hampton home lately, you're not imagining it — August and September are the busiest spider months of the year across Hampton Roads.

Here's what most people don't realize: the spiders showing up in your kitchen and hallway right now are almost always males on the move. Once the mating window opens in late August, sexually mature males abandon their webs and wander long distances looking for females. That's the wolf spider streaking across your floor at 10 p.m., or the house spider tucked into a corner of your garage.

Coastal Virginia makes this even worse. Our high water table and long humid summer support enormous insect populations, which means our spiders have plenty to eat — and plenty of reason to stick around. Homes near the water see the heaviest orb weaver webs across porches and outdoor lighting.

Good news: with the right sealing, lighting adjustments, and moisture control around the exterior, you can dramatically reduce the pressure. Our latest blog post walks through what's happening biologically, which species we most often find in Hampton homes, and the prevention steps that actually work. Link in bio! 🕷️
