Warwick Mechanical Group is a full service mechanical engineering and construction firm, providing mechanical systems for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings and facilities throughout Southeastern Virginia, Central Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Formerly known as Warwick Plumbing & Heating Corporation, the firm adopted its new name and branding in 2016 and created four op

erating divisions (Mechanical Contracting, Industrial Contracting, Mechanical Service, and Fabrication) to better represent the company’s capabilities and differentiate its scope of services. The company was incorporated in 1952 in the old city of Warwick, now Newport News. Meekin’s retirement, Spurgeon P. Toney and George R. Goodson, Jr. became the principal stockholders and increased the company to an annual volume in excess of ten million dollars. Spurgeon P. Toney served as president until 1984 when he retired. Upon Spurgeon P. Toney retirement, George Goodson, Jr. then became Chairman and CEO of the company. In 1980 G. Royden Goodson, III joined the company and later in 1990, his brother Pax Goodson also joined. Collectively, with James Jarman, vice-president of operations and William A. Phelps, Jr., vice-president of estimating, they grew the company to an annual volume in excess of twenty million dollars. In 1993, Royden Goodson assumed the role of president and continued to grow the company. In 2008, volume grew to 100 million dollars. Warwick now has two prefabrication shops, a BIM and coordination department, and three branch locations: Newport News, Hampton, and Richmond. The company also made a commitment to the Northeastern North Carolina area and re-entered the HVAC service business, which it had exited in 1984.

This summer, our Hampton Roads interns didn't just meet expectations, they far exceeded them.

Throughout the summer, they gained hands-on experience on some of the region's most impactful projects, including HRSD CEL, the ODU Biology Building, Chrysler Hall, Norfolk Recreation Center, and the James City County Government Center. They worked alongside our teams in the office and field, contributing to real projects while building the knowledge and skills that will serve them throughout their careers.

Their experience extended well beyond project work. The interns participated in technical training sessions tailored to their projects, PM Training sessions alongside our Project Management team, jobsite walks, the inaugural LEAD for Interns program through the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, and a community service project with Serve the City.

To wrap up the summer, each intern presented their experiences, lessons learned, and project involvement to our leadership and management team. The consensus was unanimous: we hit the jackpot with this group.

We are incredibly proud of what they accomplished in just one summer and grateful for representing Warwick values well in all they did. We look forward to continuing our partnership with each of them throughout their college careers and watching their future success unfold here at Warwick!
