🌧️ Before the fall rain really gets going, take a quick walk around your house.

Check the caulking around your exterior windows and doors. A small cracked or missing section of caulk can let water work its way behind the trim, and over time that can lead to rotten wood and repairs that cost a lot more than a tube of caulk.

Here in Hampton Roads, with our rain and humidity, staying ahead of water intrusion is one of the easiest ways to protect your home.

🔧 Small leaks can turn into big repairs.

One of the easiest ways to protect your home is to periodically check under sinks, around toilets, behind appliances, and near your water heater for signs of moisture.

A slow leak may not seem like much, but over time it can damage cabinets, subflooring, drywall, and framing—and in our Hampton Roads humidity, moisture problems can get worse quickly.

A few minutes of checking now could save you from a much larger repair later.

Take a few minutes to check your gutters and downspouts.

With late-summer storms and fall leaves right around the corner, now is a good time to make sure your gutters are clear and draining properly.

A few things to look for:

🔨 Gutters pulling away from the house
🍂 Leaves and debris causing clogs
💧 Water overflowing instead of reaching the downspout
🏠 Soft or rotted wood behind the gutters
🌧️ Downspouts dumping water too close to your foundation

Something as simple as a clogged gutter can eventually lead to rotted fascia and soffit, water intrusion, and moisture problems around your foundation.

A few minutes of maintenance now can help prevent a much bigger repair later.

🚿 Can a bathroom really be remodeled in ONE day?

Sometimes faster isn’t better—especially when you’re dealing with one of the wettest areas of your home.

At East Coast Contracting, we believe a bathroom remodel should be about more than making the surface look new. Once an old tub, shower, flooring, or surround is removed, there can be issues underneath that need attention:

🏠 A little exterior maintenance can save you thousands.

Here in Hampton Roads, heat, humidity, heavy rain, and storms can be tough on a home. Take a few minutes to check around your roofline for soft or peeling fascia boards, loose trim, damaged soffit, and overflowing gutters.

Catching a small area of rot early may mean replacing a board or section of trim. Waiting can allow water to reach the roof decking, framing, or interior—and turn a small repair into an expensive one.

Another kitchen transformation completed!

This project went from a dated, closed-in kitchen to a bright, open, and highly functional space built for everyday living and entertaining.

The finished kitchen features custom dark cabinetry, beautiful countertops, new hardwood flooring, an oversized island with detailed wood accents, open shelving, a custom beverage bar, updated lighting, and a built-in dining nook. Every detail came together to give this home a completely new look and feel.

Once again, we cannot say enough about the dedication and hard work of our employees. Projects like this require patience, craftsmanship, communication, and attention to detail from beginning to end. We are extremely proud of our team and grateful for the pride they take in their work every day.
