This classic five-part Palladian plan with a center block, hyphens and end pavilions, overlooks 5 acres on the North Atlantic Ocean.

The portico sports a full pedimented entablature trimmed in crisp white quoins against weathered cedar shingles. This contrast allows a formal Georgian house feel completely at ease in a Shingle Style town.

Gin Lane, Southampton

A shingled Georgian on one of Southampton’s oldest streets. The house is organized around a two-story Ionic portico, with quoined corners and weathered cedar shingle setting the classical detail in relief. Inside, a paneled stair hall rises to an octagonal gallery beneath a Dutch brass chandelier. The pool pavilion borrows the main house’s vocabulary at garden scale, its twin pyramidal roofs capped with ball finials.

Every capital was drawn by Richard Sammons The Ionic order here follows the Scamozzi model, carved and cast for the portico.

A new estate with Georgian massing, a double-height portico, and cedar shingle cladding fit for Southampton. Inside, that same classical discipline is carried and beautifully collaborated with Alex Papachristidis from the dining room’s gilt overmantel to the kitchen’s tile and brass fixtures.

The client was a European gentleman who had owned another property across the street since 1986. He wanted to build a new summer home for his daughter. The finished shingled house is laid out with an entry hall leading to a large living room looking west through a large picture window towards Great Peconic Bay.
