This Pride Month, we’re celebrating LGBTQIA+ architects whose work has shaped the built environment and expanded the possibilities of design.

Amaza Lee Meredith was one of the first known Black q***r women to practice architecture in the United States. An educator, artist, and architect, she created spaces that reflected modernist ideals while breaking barriers in a profession that often excluded women and people of color.

Philip Johnson helped define modern architecture in the United States with iconic works like the Glass House, a landmark that continues to influence architects today.

Charles Renfro has played a key role in transformative projects such as New York City’s High Line and The Shed, helping reimagine how public spaces connect communities.

Andrés Jaque is known for pushing architecture beyond buildings alone, exploring how design intersects with social, political, and environmental issues through innovative projects and research.

Architecture is shaped by diverse perspectives, experiences, and voices. This month, we recognize the LGBTQIA+ designers whose creativity, leadership, and advocacy continue to leave a lasting impact on our industry and the communities we serve.

Pride Month is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, but it is also a reminder of the decades of advocacy, resilience, and progress.

As architects and building professionals, we understand that the spaces we create shape how people experience the world around them. Inclusive design begins with recognizing that every person deserves to feel safe, welcomed, and respected in the places where they live, work, learn, and gather.

This month, we celebrate the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals to our communities, our profession, and the built environment. We remain committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and belonging for our team, our clients, and the communities we serve.
