Earlier this week I moderated a Design Book Talk with Maggie Taft, writer and art historian, for her new book “The Chieftain and The Chair, The rise of Danish design in Postwar America” at Scandinavia House New York.
It’s a privilege to work is the field of architecture and design, and to experience positive cross disciplinary exchange between the different areas that make up and contribute to this industry. It’s both academia, design and architecture practice, R & D, fabrication like and , logistics, businesses and special furniture showrooms like that makes up this “whole” we all are a part of.
We were so lucky to have many of the above areas of the industry present at the event, both , which offered such synergy to the experience. A special thank you to SuiteNY for loaning two of Hans Wegner’s Round Chairs for the event. It made a difference.

This book is Maggie’s first book and initial culmination of all her past research work. She offers a perspective of the “whole” industry as an art historian. For me it was fun to emerge myself, refresh and deepen my knowledge of my own design “heritage” and learn more through my conversation with Maggie in the preparation and at the Book talk event.
