For the pagan in all of us - Eostre (Ostara): The name “Easter” is believed by many to be derived from Eostre (or Ostara), an Anglo-Saxon/Germanic goddess of spring and dawn, whose festival celebrated renewal.
Fertility Symbols: Traditional symbols like the egg and the bunny (hare) are ancient symbols of fertility and new life, which were likely absorbed into Easter customs.
The Vernal Equinox: Pagan celebrations were tied to the spring equinox, which the Christian church used to help set the date for Easter (the first Sunday after the first full moon of the vernal equinox)
