“1985 Jerome Avenue is a new development in the dynamic Jerome Avenue Corridor and Zoning District. This 13-story reinforced concrete building will include 110 residential units, plus a commercial space on the ground floor.

It’s among the first developments to follow the 2018 NYC Rezoning, a change anticipated to rejuvenate the area. The design incorporates 132 micropiles providing a solid foundation for the reinforced concrete flat plate structure, addressing the site preconditions and challenges.

KBN handled the Structural Design from initial concept through ex*****on, managing compliance with the relevant Authorities. Project is currently under construction.”

NYC homeowners can now add an ADU to their home, and the path just got clearer.

Local Laws 126 and 127, enacted in December 2024 as part of the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity initiative, established a comprehensive framework for ADUs in one- and two-family homes. Applications are now live in DOB NOW. One unit per lot, max 800 sqft, separate entrance required.

ADUs can go in your attic, basement, cellar, backyard, or an attached/detached structure, giving homeowners real flexibility to add income-generating space without major structural overhaul.

Check out this ADU we designed in P.G. County, a sleek studio with a kitchenette perched over a two-car garage. The pyramid-style roof stays under the 15-foot limit, with a skylight strip and clean white cladding paired with raw wood at the base. Compact, practical, and designed to not disrupt the main house.
