Strong skills are built over time and passed on.

On the jobsite, experienced union carpenters share the knowledge, skills and lessons that help the next generation succeed.

That knowledge strengthens our members, our trade and the work we do across New York City.

We were honored to attend the H.E.A.R.T. 9/11 and New York Building Trades’ 25th Anniversary Tribute to Labor of 9/11.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the brothers and sisters who passed in the years that followed from 9/11-related illnesses and injuries.

We also honor the extraordinary courage of the construction trades, New York City Fire Department (FDNY), NYPD, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
and all those who answered the call in the aftermath. They ran toward danger, worked tirelessly through the devastation, and helped rebuild New York when our city needed them most.

Their sacrifice, courage, and service will never be forgotten.

We’re hitting the streets HARD to help for our Friends of Labor! Our allies like Tom Suozzi and Toby Ann Stavisky need us to mobilize, knock doors, and get out the vote to help get them across the finish line this November

The NYC Carpenters Union was honored to take part in the Building Trades’ 25th Anniversary Mass commemorating September 11th.

Together, we remembered and honored the men and women of the New York Building Trades who made the ultimate sacrifice on that tragic day including 18 members of the NYC Carpenters Union. We also remember the many more members and Building Trades workers who lost their lives in the years that followed due to 9/11-related illnesses.

This year’s commemoration held an especially meaningful connection for our union. NYC Carpenters proudly built two replicas of the Twin Towers for the Mass. Hardhats bearing the names of the Building Trades members who perished on September 11th were placed within the towers, including the names of our 18 fallen brothers.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their sacrifice, honor their legacy, and ensure their names are never forgotten.

Today, we join New York and our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.

We honor those we lost and all those who showed extraordinary courage in the face of tragedy. We stand with everyone whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget.

Being part of a union is about more than a paycheck.

NYCDCC members have the wages, benefits, training and representation that help build strong careers and secure futures.

That’s the union difference.

Heavy construction takes a skilled hand.

Union training gives carpenters the opportunity to learn new skills, sharpen their craft and prepare for challenging work like seawalls and waterfront infrastructure.

These skills are built through training.

Retired member Robert “Maestro” McCabe of Local 45 learned the trade from his father, joined the union at 18, and built a career that took him from apprentice to superintendent.

That’s union legacy: learn the craft and pass it on.
