Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Return to the U.K. Was Foreseen by This Royal, Who “Predicted All of This”

Princess Anne is the longstanding hardest working royal—and also, maybe, a bit of a fortune teller.

According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, the Princess Royal warned of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “reinventing the wheel” years before they moved back to the U.K. this week and “predicted all of this.” In 2020—the same year that Harry and Meghan stepped back as working royals and moved to the U.S.—Anne turned 70 years old that August. In an April interview with Vanity Fair ahead of that milestone—just three months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their intention to step back—the princess gave what Nicholl perceived to be “a word of warning” to the couple.

“Harry has always had a very good relationship with his aunt Princess Anne,” Nicholl told Hello!. “This relationship has certainly been tested, and when I sat down with her to interview her back in 2020, just after Megxit, she gave me a very sort of coded message, which was it’s all very well the new younger royals doing things differently, but they shouldn’t try and reinvent the wheel.”

“I don’t think this younger generation probably understands what I was doing in the past, and it’s often true, isn’t it?” Anne said at the time. “You don’t necessarily look at the previous generation and say, ‘Oh, you did that?’ Or, ‘You went there?’”

She added, “Nowadays, they’re much more looking for, ‘Oh, let’s do it a new way,’ and I’m already at the stage, ‘Please do not reinvent that particular wheel. We’ve been there, done that. Some of these things don’t work. You may need to go back to basics.’”

Nicholl said she understood Anne’s words to be “a cautionary word to Meghan and Harry that yes, of course there needs to be changes, but, but not to do anything too drastically.”

“I think she will be one who has sort of sat back, predicted all of this, not been surprised that they’re coming back somewhat with their tails between their legs because things haven’t worked in America,” Nicholl added.

Harry and Meghan moved to Montecito, California in 2020 and lived there until this past week, when they relocated back to the United Kingdom after six years away. Their children Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, are due to start school in the U.K. next week. A source speaking to The Telegraph said that there were “a number of factors” that drew them back, with an insider noting, “The timing is good and works for them right now.”

Joe Little, the managing editor of Majesty Magazine, told The Guardian that he thinks it will “take a long time to establish a reasonable degree of trust” with the royal family.

“It was six years plus in the fracturing,” he said. “It’s not going to be a case of six weeks and everything is forgiven and forgotten. It’s going to be a lengthy process.”

Dolly Parton Shared the Baby Name She Chose if She and Carl Dean Were to Have Children

While Dolly Parton never had children of her own, the country music legend—who died at the age of 80 this week—knew exactly what she would’ve named her daughter.

She and her husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, considered expanding their family at one point. “You always wonder. My husband and I, when we first got married, we thought about if we had kids, what would they look like? Would they be tall—because he’s tall? Or would they be little squats like me?” Parton told The Guardian in 2014. “If we’d had a girl, she was gonna be called Carla.”

“Anyway, we talked about it, and we dreamed it, but it wasn’t meant to be,” she added.

Parton, who suffered from endometriosis, had a partial hysterectomy in her 30s. However, she and Dean were eventually satisfied with their decision not to have children.

“I would have been a great mother, I think. I would probably have given up everything else,” she said. “Because I would’ve felt guilty about that, if I’d have left them [to work, to tour]. Everything would have changed. I probably wouldn’t have been a star.” Coming from a massive family, though, Parton never got lonely: “I grew up in a big old family with eight kids younger than me and several of my brothers and sisters came to live with me early on in my life,” she told People in 2014. “I’ve loved their kids just like they’re my grandkids, and now I’ve got great-grand-kids!”

Parton echoed this sentiment in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2003. “The older [Carl and I] get, the gladder we are that we don’t have [kids] now, because we take care of a lot of other people’s kids,” she said. “We buy new cars for all the nieces and nephews that graduate, we send any to college that want to go.”

Travis Kelce Flashes His Oversized Chunky Gold Wedding Band as He Dives Into the NFL Season

Travis Kelce is back at work following his July 3 wedding to Taylor Swift. And he’s bringing a new piece of bling with him. The tight end was spotted making his way into Arrowhead Stadium for a preseason game that saw the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Seattle Hawks on August 28. In photos obtained by Us Weekly, the football star could be seeing flashing his extra chunky gold wedding band on his left hand. He also rocked a knit Nahmias jersey paired with camo pants and a camo cap.

Kelce has shown off his ring on a few other occasions in the weeks since his Madison Square Garden nuptials. A few weeks ago, he appeared at another preseason game once again sporting the ring, along with an orange tie-dye two-piece. Back in July, the ring also made an appearance at NFL camp in Florida.

Kelce’s ring is thought to be a nod to Swift’s ring stack. “The choice of a yellow gold band appears to complement the tone of Taylor’s engagement ring, which is a nice way to match,” jewelry designer Steph Mazuera said to Elle.

Meanwhile, Angie Kennedy, vice president of merchandising at Zales, said that the band’s color creates “a subtle connection between their rings without requiring them to match exactly.” Swift is the proud owner of a 10-carat engagement ring along with a new sparkly contour wedding band.

“I’d estimate that the diamonds in Taylor’s wedding band total around 1 carat, maybe slightly more, and while they may seem small, when placed together they create a line of sparkle across the top of the band that works beautifully with her much larger engagement ring without seeming over the top,” Laura Taylor of Lorel Diamonds said to InStyle.

Dolly Parton’s Relatives Are Seen at Nashville Cemetery Following Her Death

Three days after Dolly Parton’s death on August 25, her loved ones visited her burial site at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.

, including her nephew Bryan Seaver, were spotted in Tennessee on Friday, August 28. While some were dressed in formal attire, it’s unclear whether her funeral took place today.

According to People, Parton’s final resting place will be next to her late husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who died in March 2025 at 82. The couple had been married since 1966.

Her nephew and former head of security, Seaver, announced her passing earlier this week. In the video shared on social media, he elaborated on how she asked to be buried. “Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to feel comfortable and have some rest,” he said.

Seaver also shared that the video announcement is something that the “Jolene” singer asked of him “years ago.”

“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment, but haven’t truly felt it until now,” he said. In an August 21 interview with People, the Steel Magnolias actress opened up about her health.

“I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl,” she said. “It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health. Victoria and David Beckham Enjoy a Rare Public Date as They Support Son Cruz at Reading Festival

The Beckham family is out and about at Reading Festival this weekend. Victoria and David Beckham were pictured backstage at their son Cruz’s show during Reading Festival on August 29. Two of their other children, Romeo and Harper, were also pictured watching the show from another area.

In a sweet PDA moment, Victoria stood behind her husband and wrapped her arms around his shoulders as they proudly watched on as Cruz and his band The Breakers took to the stage. Victoria wore gradient aviator sunglasses and a simple brown T-shirt tucked into her pants. Meanwhile, David wore a red long-sleeved top.

Speaking to Rolling Stone UK earlier this year, Cruz revealed that his parents were a huge inspiration for his music career. “There was a heavy guitar influence from The Stone Roses to The Rolling Stones to The Beatles, but also a lot of R&B and pop too,” he said of their musical tastes. “I spent years deep diving and studying the greats with no boundary to their genre. A great song is a great song!”

Meghan Markle’s Circle Is Apparently “Worried” About This Aspect of Her U.K. Return

At least one member of Meghan Markle’s circle is “worried” for the Duchess of Sussex as she, her husband Prince Harry, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet make the move back to the U.K. within a matter of weeks (and likely even less time than that).

Beyond the security concerns that Harry has long expressed, this source close to the As Ever founder told People, “My biggest concern is the level of media attention she’ll face in the U.K. I’m worried for her.” Meghan has been open about becoming “so isolated and unhappy as a working royal that she experienced suicidal thoughts,” People reported. Though Harry and Meghan will not return to the U.K. as working royals—roles they had until their departure for the U.S. in 2020—“I don’t think they will be welcomed back with open arms,” Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary Ailsa Anderson told People.

“They will have to rebuild that trust and affection—with the family and the public,” she added.

Archie and Lilibet will begin school in the U.K. in September, and letting the children get to know their father’s home country more is a major driver behind the relocation. “Step by step, they want to be in the U.K.,” a source close to Harry told the outlet. “They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.”

Meghan, a source that knows her said, “feels very fortunate that they’re able to give Archie and Lilibet the opportunity to experience both worlds.” Harry, meanwhile, “wants them to understand the world he grew up in and where their family comes from.” The move is not expected to be permanent. They will keep their multimillion-dollar Montecito, California mansion, as well as a Portugal vacation home, which they visited earlier this summer. The move to the U.K. is “not necessarily a forever thing,” a source explained.

But while Meghan is there, it’s understandable that her friends might have concerns. “She has been vocal about how she felt before, but that doesn’t mean things are going to be exactly the same again,” a friend said. “It doesn’t mean it can’t be different and can’t change.”

Meghan Markle Shares Her First Social Media Post Since News Broke of Her Move Back to the U.K.

Meghan Markle has made her first social media post following reports that she, Prince Harry, and their two children are moving back to the U.K.
On August 25, the Duchess of Sussex shared a video on her Instagram Stories showing a kitchen towel that read, “People who take care of chickens are literally chicken tenders.”

The quippy post comes two days after the Telegraph reported that the family’s chickens will remain in Montecito, California, and will be cared for by staff while they’re across the pond.

Meghan, 45, has previously shared videos on Instagram of the family’s chicken coop, which they affectionately named “Archie’s Chick Inn.” Back in April, she posted a clip on her Instagram Stories of herself and her daughter Princess Lilibet hanging out in the coop. The five-year-old often makes appearances on Meghan’s Instagram Stories, especially when chickens are involved. In March, Meghan shared another video of Lilibet playing with the chickens. In the clip, her long red hair is visible as she walks around their backyard.

Though they’ll be leaving their birds in California, Meghan may have her hands full with a new job.

According to an August 21 People report, she is “being eyed” for a role in Season 3 of Netflix’s The Gentlemen. It would be a fitting career move, as the series is filmed in the U.K. Though some outlets have reported that she was “dropped” from the series, People noted on August 24 that the duchess “remains in talks despite recent reports. The series, which has just been renewed for a third season, is helmed by Guy Ritchie, whom Meghan reportedly met through “mutual acquaintances.” The Gentlemen stars Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, and Variety reported that Season 3 is in pre-production and scripts have yet to be finalized.
