Of all the phases in an architectural project, Schematic Design is the one that generates the most excitement. It’s the phase where ideas move from a list of hopes and a folder of saved images into something that starts to look like a real home. We love it. Our clients love it. It is, above all else, a lot of fun!

It’s also the phase where some of the most important — and sometimes most difficult — conversations happen. It’s where we have to put your wishlist in a room with your budget, and figure out how they can get along.

We're looking at one of the most important phases of design: schematic design, and the conversations about budget & scope that make it work.

The Spring / Summer 2026 issue of Valley MMag has arrived!

We think the cover of this issue is pretty spectacular - and it so wonderfully showcases the work of .kingston, led by Hope and Charles. Check out the center spread of the issue for a conversation on food, farming and the dream of a neighborhood dining spot.

This issue also includes double spreads from two new contributors. The leaders of showcase their trio of dining experiences in Highland and Poughkeepsie, and showcases their representation of local artists in the Hudson Valley (and beyond!). We were also excited to include a longer feature on Studio MM's collaboration with on VIA43. Make sure to find a copy in a local coffee shop near you!

It’s that time of year again — three days, a packed itinerary, great food, and the whole team together. Our latest offsite did not disappoint. From site visits to screen printing, from birdfeeder brainstorms to a wood-fired dinner under the sky, we came home inspired, energized, and with a few very unique souvenirs.

We've been having a blast on our first team offsite of the year. Offsites are a great opportunity for us to spend quality time together, share meals and gain clarity for the next six months. We've enjoyed the past day and a half we've already spent together and are gearing up for a great final day!

The VIA43 Bunkhouse is positioned at the edge of a cliff, close enough to the main home to feel connected, but far enough that guests retain a sense of privacy. The concept is simple – a glass box framed by thin fascia and grounded by a solid mass housing private bathing and changing spaces.
A central wood volume within the glass enclosure cleverly accommodates four twin size bunks, a primary bed and a kitchenette. Utilized by visiting family, clients, and the studio’s team members, the bunkhouse needed to maximize both privacy and capacity.
