I just discovered the artist Taryn Simon in her exhibition at the Guggenheim and am so inspired by her work and how she transforms the rotunda gallery in the most original and surprising way.

She takes each individual space and collapses the walls, floor, and artwork itself into bold and uniform color fields—like a Richard Diebenkorn painting—framing each installation with an intimacy that I’ve never felt in Frank Lloyd Wright’s building before.

There’s so much here that appeals to me. Starting with the pure geometry of the dots in a black rectangle, subdivided by white frames. It’s visually arresting. Something about dots always appeals to me. And then there’s the striking visual quality of the photographs and the objects they depict, the surprising and endearing sculptural forms—such as the life-size cutout of the Saudi Arabian figure composed of individual sheets of paper.

There’s also the extremely playful yet poignant way she composed McDonald’s French fries in a variety of vignettes in a piece that ties back to the Beijing Olympics. It reminds me of the piece I saw at the Boros Collection in Berlin about a young Chinese artist recalling the first time he tasted Coca-Cola.

Through this beautiful color-field approach, Taryn Simon transforms the banal into a powerful and complex visual and political statement that feels utterly refreshing. Congratulations, Taryn, on a must-see show!

We’re honored to see our work recognized in 2026 by Real Estate Insider Magazine and Ocean Home Magazine.

Most Innovative Architecture Firm — New York 2026

Top 25 Architect — 2026

Top Coastal Architect — 2026

Each award underscores a particular quality of our work—from innovative agricultural architecture that advances food security for the future, to a Caribbean residence designed in harmony with its native landscape and views, to an oceanfront Hamptons family home shaped around the moments that bring them together for generations.

We are grateful to the clients, collaborators, and teams who make this work possible.

Ten years ago, we designed our first Hamptons residence. Since then, we’ve come to appreciate the particular character of each village, landscape, and way of life. There is no greater pleasure than imagining and building this collection of residences, each in concert with its setting. Every home is as distinct as the family who commissions it, crafted around their vision, tastes, and habits to create the moments a family never plans, but always remembers.

If every party ends up in the kitchen, why shouldn’t it be one of the most beautiful rooms in the house?

Here, warm oak and richly veined stone make it a place where everyone naturally wants to gather.

At Wyckoff Exchange, we transformed two abandoned Bushwick warehouses into 10,000 square feet of retail and cultural space. Five pairs of motorized Corten-steel panels—using technology adapted from airplane hangars—fold outward to become awnings, transforming the façade from a solid industrial wall into an open, illuminated work of public art.

I’ve always been obsessed with the California Light and Space movement of the 1970s — artists like Frederick Eversley and Robert Irwin, and with Dan Flavin’s extraordinary ability to blur the line between light and environment in their work.

So perhaps you can imagine how surprised I was, visiting the permanent Flavin installation at Dia Bridgehampton, to discover Alan Ruiz’s work “De sol a sol”, which explores the same idea in a piece that tracks the movement of the sun over the course of a day.

It is so beautiful to see a new expression of these ideas fifty years later that still feels fresh and exciting!

If good space is like a gourmet meal for the soul, why should we accept anything without flavor? Why should a hallway be boring? Why can’t it be a special place—with a magnificent view, your favorite books, and somewhere to curl up with one of them?
