Urban Architectural Initiatives RA PC (UAI) is a design-oriented architectural and planning firm formed in 1996.

Urban Architectural Initiatives (UAI) is a minority-owned, vibrant and diverse group of professionals united around the idea that great architecture is not only for the privileged few and can help all people lead a healthy, happy and dignified life. Our work encompasses community facilities, educational, residential, health care, religious, commercial, transportation, historic restoration and urba

n revitalization projects. The practice draws on the varied experiences of its principals and staff, combining a strong interest in urban building types with a broad and in-depth knowledge of the construction industry. Completed and ongoing work extends from the five boroughs of New York City to the metropolitan, tri-state area.

The interior areas of Alafia B1 are just beginning to take shape: here we can catch a glimpse of the parking area, mailroom, and tenant amenity spaces. Designed by UAI and developed as a joint venture by L+M Development Partners, RiseBoro Community Partnership, and Apex Building Group, Building B1 will bring 209 affordable housing apartments to southeast Brooklyn when completed at the end of this year.

Governors Island is just a short ferry ride from our office in Lower Manhattan, but it feels like a different world! We celebrated summer at UAI by getting out of the office and taking advantage of one of the many public green spaces New York City has to offer.

Now that the scaffolding's been taken down, we have a chance to show you all the details on the Jerome Avenue project's façade! Developed by ACMH, Inc. and constructed by Archstone Builders, 1760 Jerome Avenue will bring 175 affordable housing units to the Bronx in March 2027.

We’re excited to bring you the latest developments on the building superstructure at Alafia B1, part of a wellness-oriented redevelopment of 25+ acres in southeast Brooklyn creating a walkable neighborhood. Designed by UAI and developed as a joint venture by L+M Development Partners, Riseboro, and Apex Building Group, Building B1 stands 14 stories tall and will provide 209 affordable housing apartments when completed at the end of this year.
