Depending on the property's location and project scope, requirements may affect:

📐 Building elevation.
🏗️ Foundation design.
💧 Flood-resistant materials.
🚪 Location of utilities and mechanical systems.
📑 Permits and code requirements.

Fact: Not necessarily.

Even if two properties are right next to each other, they can have completely different conditions that affect what you’re allowed to build.

📍 Different zoning districts.
📏 Different lot dimensions.
📑 Different existing approvals.
🏗️ Different building histories.
📐 Different setbacks, FAR, or other zoning requirements.

So before assuming, “They did it, so I can too…” make sure you know what your property actually allows.

Because in NYC, what’s possible next door isn’t always possible on your lot. 😉
