We’re excited to share that our birdhouse was awarded Best Habitat at this year's Birdhaus auction. Drawing inspiration from a Gothic stone chapel, the Birdhaus is constructed from vertical-grain select cypress and designed to withstand the elements, weathering gracefully over time into a natural silvery-gray patina.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners at Woodmeister Master Builders for their craftsmanship and collaboration in bringing the Birdhaus to life. It was a pleasure working together on a project that celebrates both design and habitat.

Thank you as well to everyone who attended, supported the event, and participated in this year’s Birdhaus auction. And special thanks to Cottages & Gardens and LaGuardia Design Group for hosting such a wonderful evening in support of The Madoo Conservancy and its mission to foster the appreciation of horticulture, design, and the arts.

We’re grateful to be part of such a creative community and to support an organization doing important work.

Designed for gathering, the dining room balances a sense of formality with warmth and ease. Throughout the home, the interior architecture draws from English precedent while embracing a more relaxed American sensibility, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary livability.

A kitchen designed around how it’s actually used. Knife storage, custom chopping blocks, spice drawers, and cabinetry shaped to work around existing conditions, all considered in detail. Even the interiors are tailored, with profiles and proportions designed specifically for the space.

With the right team, every element can be made to fit exactly how you live.

Honored to be named to the 2026 ELLE Decor A-List.

Architecture has always been a collaborative endeavor, shaped by clients who trust us, colleagues who challenge us, craftspeople who bring ideas into reality, and a long lineage of architects and builders whose work continues to teach us. We’re grateful to be recognized alongside so many talented designers and firms whose work we admire.

Thank you to the editors of ELLE Decor for this recognition, and to everyone who has been part of the journey. We look forward to continuing to create homes that are rooted in tradition, shaped by their owners, and designed to grow richer with time.

Designed for the cool, overcast climate of the Pacific Northwest, this hillside retreat relies on material treatment rather than applied color. No paint was used throughout the home. Instead, the palette comes from charred wood siding, fumed oak interiors, and acid-etched stainless steel that takes on a soft iridescent gray.

The garden side of the house was designed as a continuation of the architecture, shaped through a close dialogue between house and landscape. Brick paths, terraces, clipped hedges, and layered plantings create a sequence of outdoor rooms that feel both structured and deeply connected to the surrounding property.

Inspired by the historic relationship between Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll, the landscape by Deborah Nevins extends the experience of the home beyond its walls, softening the scale of the architecture while creating places to gather, walk, and spend time outdoors throughout the day.

A powder room that does more. Designed for entertaining, the shower is fully concealed within the wall paneling, disappearing when not in use. When needed, it unfolds into a full bath, adding flexibility without compromising the experience of the room. A thoughtful solution that balances beauty, function, and long term value.

Custom designed and hand crafted iron balusters by David DeSantis alongside a vintage marble console and 1940s Gio Ponti vessels. The kind of detail and craftsmanship that gives a new house the weight and character of one that has stood for a hundred years.

Two paneled openings, each concealing something entirely different. On one side, a fully equipped bar with integrated storage, a refrigerator, and high gloss lacquer with brass inlay and a coin edge toe kick. On the other, a private desk, designed for work, with a similar profile and detailing, but expressed in wood. Function, tailored and hidden in plain sight.
